September L. Davis is a Lortel, Obie, Drama Desk, Helen Hayes and Jeff award nominated living legend, best known for her work in ZigZag, A Garden for Eunice, and the celebrated revivals of The Miracle Worker, Butterflies are Free, My Fair Lady, Can-Can and The Bells are Ringing. September holds the record for the longest non-winning streak of TONY nominations in New York’s stage history. Her early career was defined by her collaborations with composer and former husband Danny Schiff, netting unforgettable turns in Bingo!, Ring in the Rodeo and importantly, Radioactive (or Marie Curie’s Marvelous Mishap). In that production, her rendition of “Noble” thrilled both critics and audiences alike, and earned her a Grammy nomination.. Following her second marriage to Steven Sharpie of the Sharpie permanent marker dynasty, as September L. The Apology Tour is a new original musical that begs the question: can an insufferable diva redeem herself and become a decent human being, at least enough to work again and possibly win awards?
The Apology Tour invites celebrity guests, who September has wronged in the past, back for a night of apologies, memories and music.
It's an over-the-top love letter to all things Broadway, from stunt casting to cancel culture and the colorful personalities that make musical theater both joyful and, at times, challenging. It's a sharp, absurd meditation on how we make amends and forgive in a cultural moment where neither seems to be trending.

MATTHEW WILKAS is an actor, writer, and producer. Onstage, he played Peter Parker in Broadway’s Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, appeared Off-Broadway in Ginger Twinsies, and starred as Orin in Pasadena Playhouse’s Little Shop of Horrors. He created, wrote, produced, and starred in New York Is Dead, and co-created the sketch-comedy series Matt and Dan, screened at over forty festivals worldwide.
DIEGO ANDRES RODRIGUEZ was nominated for a 2026 Olivier Award for best Lead Actor in a Musical for his performance as ‘Che’ in Jamie Lloyd’s critically acclaimed production of EVITA on the West End. He most recently starred in Ivo Van Hove’s world premiere production of REBEL REBEL in Germany. Diego was previously seen on stage in Lloyd’s production of SUNSET BLVD on Broadway. His upbringing in the vibrant border land of South Texas has greatly influenced his artistic journey, identity, and sense of community. Rodriguez is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan’s musical theater program.

1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the length and quality of the applause.
There is no intermission, but there is ample time to purchase cocktails before the show. So come early and stay late. Not in the theater, of course. You must leave Studio Seaview when our life-changing time together concludes.
Will there be audience participation?
Yes. The Apology Tour is a shared transformative experience that involves some members of the audience. Participation is not required. If you are willing and comfortable being part of the show, please do consider it an honor. If you are not chosen, it is because Miss Davis finds you triggering. If this is the case, avoid direct eye contact with her while experiencing the wonder of The Apology Tour.
Is there an age restriction or content advisory?
Yes. This production is strictly 18+.
The Apology Tour contains blessings, primal screams, and healing through group song (when prompted). Accordingly, this public display of deeply personal self-examination may include strobes, haze, mature themes and extreme off-color language. Please bring an open heart and an open mind.
Will there be late seating?
There will be no late seating for September L. Davis: The Apology Tour. What possible reason could you have to arrive late to a tour de force? So be on time, be a grown-up, and get ready to experience total spiritual metamorphosis.
Is photography or filming allowed?
There will be no photography or filming allowed. Unless you can guarantee it will go viral. If your cell phone makes noise of any kind or is visible to any of our security team, it will be confiscated, you will never see it again, and you will be detained backstage until the end of the show, at which point you will be asked to apologize to the entire theater. You will be responsible for all associated costs incurred from this delay, theater rental fees, insurance costs and overtime for concessions vendors. Lastly, your image will also be included in a viral wall of shame that could potentially destroy your life and career. This is not a joke, so please behave accordingly and with great reverential deference to the fact that you are in a theater, which in this instance, is a sacred space.
Should I warm up before the show?
It is not necessary, but it will probably be appreciated by your fellow audience members if you come warm.

Dear Lord, I’M AWAKE NOW! I get it! I am a horrible person. A horrible, horrible person who needs to find their way back! But how?! How does a HUMAN MONSTER get back to being a HUMAN BEING?!
I’ve tried to run. I’ve tried to hide. But this just won’t go away! How do I right these many alleged wrongs? How do I make this right when I don’t even know what pains I’ve caused?
I don’t know if you’ve ever been cancelled but let me tell you something dolls. It’s a fate I wouldn’t wish on even Ama Gaslighter. The sketch witch and my ex-best friend who has now tried to have me cancelled. ME! A five time Tony Nominee who literally GAVE HER LIFE for her art!
I haven’t slept in hours. I’m a wreck! HOW CAN I POSSIBLY CALM THESE ROUGH SEAS!?
The realization hit me in the face like a flat iron skillet! Of course! AN APOLOGY TOUR! A SEPTEMBER L. DAVIS APOLOGY TOUR! A show that is SO TRANSFORMATIVE and VULNERABLE as to not only change myself, but everyone in the theater, as well!
It would be a night of REDEMPTION! To cop to all the hurt I’ve caused! To own it! To invite all the celebrities I have wronged back for a night of APOLOGIES, MEMORIES, MUSIC and SONGS!
Because here is what I’ve come to understand: cancel culture and attempted murder are not the solution. Humans are MESSY and COMPLEX. They need second chances. If you’re cancelled, are you never allowed to return? And if you are allowed to return, wouldn’t the best way be MUSICAL THEATER, the greatest American artform there is?
I can feel the ELECTRICITY coursing through me! I’m so excited, I can feel a cool breeze up my skirt! This is the path! This is the way to go!
Then, for a brief moment, I wondered if maybe this couldn’t be the Tony winning moment that’s eluded me! I could build the show as a STAR TURN, a tour de force! But, suddenly, a voice from above says, “No, DIP SHIT, that’s not what this is about! This is a night to open your heart and fill it with LOVE!” Got it!! I have to keep my eye on the prize! If I get a Tony, so be it (I will accept it), but, if I don’t, I still win the biggest prize: ETHICS!
Some of my team wanted to call this a workshop. I prefer to think of it as “BABY’S FIRST STEP.” When given the opportunity to speak from the heart, from the soul, to the community I gave my life to, I want to make sure that I know exactly what I want to say before I say it.
So, I think of these nine shows as my opportunity to find myself, through song and dance, with some very famous co-workers. To make amends and create a holy space that no one will ever forget.
We will be performing the show humbly, on the stage of a pre-existing show about a nude penguin named Garry Starr, because Studio Seaview is the only venue brave enough to allow us to perform, on such short notice, what is shaping up to be one of the most consequential pieces of our generation.
